Natural Titan Acoustic Bass - Electro

The importance of body shape:

For those seeking acoustic power and projection, the Neptune body shape is an obvious choice. Not quite on the scale of a full-on 17” traditional ‘jumbo’, the Neptune is a little easier to handle thanks to the slightly smaller 16” lower bout, yet it still delivers an enormous amount of volume and tonal projection.  This is particularly useful when you’re focussing on low-end power, such as with this Titan Acoustic Bass.

Which tonewoods are used and why?

The top of the Natural Titan is Premium-grade Engelmann Spruce, and the back and sides are made from our favourite Indonesian Mahogany, both of which are all-solid, of course. The Spruce top is finished with a carefully applied Gloss lacquer whereas the back and sides have a soft satin sheen. As spruce is naturally stiff and resonant, when it is lacquered, the resonant overtones are controlled a little more than if it were satin finished, so the tone is a little more focussed. 

How does it all come together?

The Spruce and Mahogany combo has long been a default acoustic guitar recipe, and it works excellently for the purpose of acoustic bass too, delivering a warm, vocal tone.

All the tonewoods remain in their ‘natural’ state, showing their original colours and grain patterns, with only the electronics breaking up the show of understated beauty. The Natural Titan Bass is also bound with solid Rosewood which borders the lighter woods with its grained, deep reddish-brown hues. All other fittings on the Natural models – fingerboard, bridge, pins, headplate - are made from Solid Indonesian Ebony. This premium hardwood is usually dark, with deep colours woven in, often in a striped pattern.

The Electronics:

Amplifying the Faith Titan Acoustic Bass is simple thanks to the Fishman 'Presys+ Bass' preamp and piezo pickup system. The undersaddle pickup is controlled by a side-mounted, flush-fitting preamp with 3 band EQ, a built-in tuner, and notch filter and brilliance control. The output socket is combined with the strap button on the base of the guitar, with the battery being contained simply within the preamp housing itself.
