The popular Baby-Jumbo Neptune shape in the Original Faith Guitar series.

Back in 2002 when Faith guitars were conceived, the Natural series was the first of the ranges to be created using a classic tonewood combination and a simplistic, natural beauty. The Neptune was added to the Natural range in the early 2010s and has remained a strong choice ever since.

The importance of body shape:

The importance of body shape:

For those seeking acoustic power and projection, the Neptune is the obvious choice. This 'baby-jumbo' shape, not quite on the scale of a full-on 17” traditional ‘jumbo’, is a little easier to handle thanks to the slightly smaller 16” lower bout, yet it still delivers an enormous amount of volume and tonal projection. Equipped with a beautifully contoured cutaway, access to the upper frets is made somewhat easier, plus the a little of the body weight is reduced too.

Which tonewoods are used and why?

The top of the Natural Neptune is Premium-grade Engelmann Spruce, and the back and sides are made from our favourite Indonesian Mahogany, both of which are all-solid, of course. The Spruce top is finished with a gloss lacquer whereas the back and sides have a soft satin sheen.  As spruce is naturally stiff and resonant, when it is lacquered, the resonant overtones are controlled a little more than if it were satin finished, so the tone is a little more focussed

How does it all come together?

How does it all come together?

The Spruce and Mahogany combo has long been a favourite acoustic guitar recipe, delivering clarity and warmth. All the tonewoods remain in their ‘natural’ state, showing their original colours and grain patterns, with only the electronics breaking up the show of understated beauty. All other fittings on the Natural models – fingerboard, bridge, pins, headplate - are made from Solid Indonesian Ebony. This premium hardwood is usually dark, with deep colours woven in, often in a striped pattern.

This Natural series Neptune model is bound with solid Rosewood which borders the lighter woods with its grained, deep reddish-brown hues.

The Electronics:

The Electronics:

Amplifying the Natural Neptune Cutaway Electro is simple thanks to the Fishman INK3 preamp and piezo pickup system. The undersaddle pickup is controlled by a side-mounted, flush-fitting preamp with 3 band EQ and a built-in tuner. The output socket is mounted into the end of the guitar with an ingeniously integrated battery box and separate strap button.
