The Importance of Body Shape

The Importance of Body Shape

Based upon the scaled-down dimensions of our Baby-Jumbo, this Nomad Mini-Neptune is incredibly comfortable and easy to play, sitting perfectly whether on the knee or equipped with a strap. The Nomads are short scale acoustic guitars, with the neck joining the body at the 12th fret, designed to be the perfect travel companion

Which tonewoods are used and why?

Which tonewoods are used and why?

Trembesi wood has long been sought after by furniture manufacturers for its magnificent beauty and stunning variety of patterns, but we've more recently been persuaded of its tonal capabilities too.

A good Trembesi instrument, like Hawaiian Koa, behaves similarly to Mahogany, offering warmth and balance throughout the strings but with the addition of a little more sparkle at the high-end.

How does it all come together?

How does it all come together?

By using solid mahogany for the whole body, this Nomad can resonate coherently delivering a plucky, feisty tone. In this mini-baby-jumbo guise, the overall volume will not be as loud as a full sized Neptune, but the mids cut through brilliantly. And when amplified, its smaller dimensions are undetectable. The fittings of the Nomad guitars – fingerboard, headplate, bridge, etc – are still made of solid Ebony. So even though the guitar may be physically lightweight, the Nomad is far from light on quality.

This Nomad is equipped with a Fishman Presys 1 preamp system and an undersaddle piezo pickup strip. This elegant solution is super easy to use, with an easy-to-read built-in tuner, contour EQ control, phase switch (to control any feedback on stage), and a volume knob. The output is located at the base of the guitar, integrated with the strap button.
