The importance of body shape
Based upon Patrick James Eggle’s original ‘Saluda’ body shape, we class the Neptune as a ‘baby-jumbo’ model. At 16” across the lower bout, the Neptune is a little smaller than a full-on 17” Jumbo model yet retains the majority of that jumbo power and presence. Presented here in its non-cutaway version, the Neptune is a true full-bodied powerhouse.
Which tonewoods are used and why?
The top, back and sides of the Nexus Neptune Cognac are solid Indonesian Mahogany, stained with a deep brown colour treatment. This colouration serves to deepen the inherent visual character of Mahogany allowing nature’s work to be fully appreciated. Each Nexus model is then coated with gloss lacquer and polished to a high shine. This lacquer helps protect the guitar no matter what you encounter in your musical journey.
How does it all come together?
All-Mahogany guitars have been an essential part of a guitarists tonal palette for a long time now. By using the same tonewood for the whole body, the instrument delivers a reliably linear tone and overall an instrument that loves to be played and strummed hard.
The Electronics.
Amplification of this beauty is possible thanks to the Fishman S-tone pickup system which features an undersaddle piezo pickup, controlled by an active Volume and Tone control mounted just under the edge of the soundhole. This system is super-discreet, keeping the instrument’s traditional aesthetic firmly intact.
