Sunbursts, Tobacco Bursts, or graduated colour-finishes have a history that dates to the violin makers of the 17th and 18th centuries, but it was in the early 20th century that the technique began to be applied to acoustic guitars. Over the years, the image of the soul-searching songwriter wrestling with their inner demons whilst playing a sunburst acoustic has been burnt into our collective minds.
Applying this colouration technique to a more modern guitar shape creates an instrument for those who wish for the practicalities and feel of a modern guitar but with an aesthetic drawn deep from musical history.

The importance of body shape:
The Venus is the now-iconic shape that first brought Faith Guitars to the attention of so many musicians. The Venus's mix of a 15" lower bout and a more shallow body draws influence from traditional OM or Auditorium bodies, making it the ideal balance between power and ease-of-use: It’s large enough to produce a powerful acoustic performance while being compact enough for any size of player to move about freely on stage.

Which tonewoods are used and why?
Classic Burst models' tonal qualities are just as impressive as their visual ones thanks to the use of a classic pairing of Red Cedar and Mahogany: one of Patrick's favourite combinations. Cedar, which is somewhat less stiff than Spruce, is naturally mellow, and when matched with Mahogany produces a sound that emphasises the lower midrange, delivering a wonderfully warm, vocal quality.

How does it all come together?
The Classic Burst Venus has a 45mm nut which is just that little wider than most Faith Guitar nuts. This gives the guitar a little more of a traditional feel and a little more space between the strings at the headstock end of the neck: a feature loved by traditional fingerpickers. The top has a three-tone burst finish, based on deep browns, reds and amber and is finished with a gloss lacquer. The mahogany back has a deep stain applied, which is complemented by the solid Ebony binding and solid Ebony fittings.

The Electronics:
Amplifying your Classic Burst Venus is simple thanks to the Fishman INK3 preamp and s-core pickup system. The undersaddle piezo pickup is controlled by a side-mounted, flush-fitting preamp with 3 band EQ and a built-in tuner. The output socket is mounted into the end of the guitar with an ingeniously integrated battery box and separate strap button.

The Case:
Your new Faith Venus comes complete with a plush-lined hardcase, ideal for protecting your guitar whether at home awaiting its next practise session or whether travelling from gig to gig.
