The importance of body shape:

The importance of body shape:

The first of the Faith body shapes launched in the winter of 2002, the Venus has become a guitar industry reference point around the world as a style that strikes the ideal balance of size and sound, being suitable for all players of any pretty much any size or experience.  Thanks to its 15" lower bout and shallower body, the Venus is comfortable to play for long periods yet it is still large enough that it doesn’t sacrifice tone or acoustic power.

Which tonewoods are used and why?

Which tonewoods are used and why?

Mango trees grow freely and abundantly across Indonesia, so the woods used for Blue Moon guitars are purchased locally in Java, Indonesia from recognised timber merchants under the SVLK Indonesian Legal Wood scheme.

Mango has an intriguing character in terms of tone. It's not as loud and forceful as rosewood nor as mellow as mahogany, but it has its own particular warmth. The tone is dark and brooding, with the frequency range beginning somewhat below that of mahogany and fading off slightly earlier in the mid-range. The lower level of resonant overtones, similar to that found on maple guitars, makes the Mango-bodied Blue Moon well-controlled, balanced, and relatively feedback-resistant.

So, they're just as ‘at home’ on a loud stage as ‘at home’ itself.

How does it all come together?

How does it all come together?

Each piece of solid wood will differ in natural coloration and grain patterns. One of the joys of all-solid, natural tonewoods is the inherent variation in coloration and grain patterns among individual pieces of tonewood. Upon application of the Blue Moon burst finish, certain sections of the mango with lighter pigmentation will manifest vivid blues, while the denser regions will assume an almost ebony-like appearance. When matched with the solid, Flamed Maple binding and Ebony fittings, you can be sure that your Blue Moon guitar will possess the same level of uniqueness as your music.

The Electronics:

The Electronics:

The upgraded onboard electronics - in the form of Fishman’s revolutionary INK BODY preamp system - have been carefully selected by combining the clarity of a traditional undersaddle piezo pickup with the tonal richness of a body sensor. This system not only takes amplified sound to incredible new heights, but it also allows for much greater note expression whether you’re playing chords or complex fingerstyle pieces.

The Case:

The Case:

To ensure that your beautiful new instrument is well protected and cared for, your guitar is complete with a woodshell hardcase, with padded plush interior. We recommend that you keep your guitar in the hardcase whenever not in use.

Looks good, feels good, sounds good, and highly recommended by experienced guitarist friend who also has a Faith. Only bought it today so can?t say more as yet.
    Simon Loughe -
So far. Fabulous. Some intonation uncertainty, but have just put some 13's on, so will let everything settle and see how it pans out! But, it certainly plays nice, has a great action and lovely soft but clear sound. Machine heads are superb too. Not had chance to plug it in yet either.

The rating/10 I have given is a bit premature, and reflects the above uncertainty at this point.
    Alex Lewis -
Beautiful instrument that feels perfect with the tone and projection to back it up
    Ethan Cole -
    Very good guitar! Great design!
    MIN LI -
I tried quite a few guitars in the store, none came up to the 'faiths' standard, it had a 'brighter' sound which I found pleasing . Although it was more expensive than others, I feel I have got value for money.
i am a beginner player but will feel more confident with this guitar.
    Gordon Kent-Smith -
Exotic yet subtle finish, brilliant rounded tone. Onboard tuner requires a certain 'knack' to use efficiently. A guitar for someone looking for something out of the ordinary but still plenty reliable.
    Oscar Mullan -
Early days but great looks and lovely tone. However the lacquer seems quite fragile and marks quite easily.
    Colin Midgley -
Early days but first impressions very good. Dark and moody as advertised but can obtain reasonable high end too. Build quality good but spoilt by some deep scratching to the front hi gloss finish caused, I think, by pieces of sawdust in the case - they must have been there when it was shipped from the factory. As I liked the sound/action I kept the guitar and was able to carefully polish out most of the scratches. The hard case is a useful addition - though unfortunately it is slightly on the small side and the guitar strap button tears at the internal lining.
    Peter Lewis -
I think is the best guitar i ever had, my uncle gifted it to me and i have no words to say how much i like it
    Carlos Adrian Resendez -
I absolutely love it. I work with other musicians and they really want to see it. Can't wait to show them. All you can ask of a guitar... really easy to play, sounds fantastic, and will always be the prettiest guitar in the room no matter where we are! Thank you Faith Guitars and The Music Traders in Shallotte NC.
    Gerald Pittman -
OMG... what can I say, this guitar is a real beauty. Only received it yesterday but have pretty much played or looked at it since. I am not sure that I have ever seen such a gorgeous looking guitar. Every aspect of the guitar build appears to be of the highest quality.
As for the sound, I can concur with Faith that their description of a distinctive warm moody sound is pretty spot on, I love it.
For those questioning whether a guitar like this of smaller stature has got acoustic volume, fear not, it certainly has.
All round I am massively impressed by this Blue Moon Venus, so if you are after a beautifully made guitar with wonderful sounds, look no further..... good job Faith.... Love it.

For my 50TH I wanted something special so I went with the intention to buy a Taylor big baby or Martin x series, but I just didn't like them, the young sales guy put two different Taylor academys in my hands which were better but not much, I really didn't think they were much of an improvement on my sigma dme+. As I was getting ready to leave, the young sales worker suggested I tried faith, it was a total upgrade to the ones I'd tried, the deep resonance and tone to the smoothest tuning pegs I've used. I was sold at that point.

Now, the young guitar guitar Edinburgh rep who was great with me said I'll get you a new boxed one (I had a reluctance). He opened it for me to try out the box and it felt identical to the display model I'd tried.
This guitar will be i lifer for me, every time I pick the guitar up I play longer than before, and inspires me to write songs again which I've done.
The Faith Venus Bluemoon is outstanding in build and tone, with great value for money. Worth double the price.
    Ross Horne -
I am very happy with it. It is the most beautiful guitar I have ever brought.
    MIN LI -
The beauty was my first attraction. I am just starting to play at 55 years of age. I started to research different models. Picking up this guitar was love a first sight and feel. The sound is incredible!!
    Todd Burnette -
Fantastic looks, build quality, sound and playability. The tone is very distinctive.
    Nick Andrews -
Simply put, awesome! Beautiful tone, noticeably different to my Neptune Hi Gloss. Fantastic colour, the only reason I've dropped one point is because the figuring of the top isn't as spectacular as some of the early versions I saw advertised, but nevertheless it's still fantastic!
    Philip Collier -
    Absolutely Love It!
    Tristen Davis -
not as blue as thought it would be,looks almost black in certain lights, apart from that its a beautiful guitar fantastic low action and sounds pretty mellow for a new guitar, build quality and furniture is very impressive.
